Von Miller, Broncos closing in on six-year mega deal

The biggest topic in NFL free agency over the last few months has been whether the Denver Broncos would have star linebacker Von Miller on the field this year with a long-term deal.

It looks like they will finally be getting that answer very soon.

NFL Media senior analyst Ian Rapoport reported that the Broncos and Miller are “closing in” on a lucrative contract that would keep him in Denver through the 2021 season. The deal is said to be worth $114 million with $70 million guaranteed by March of 2018.

This would be a huge coup for the Broncos as they have been fighting to re-sign Miller to a deal since the end of the 2015 season. He had been franchise tagged earlier this year and he said that he wouldn’t be playing on that contract as he believes it devalues a player’s worth.

Today is the deadline for franchise players to sign a multi-year deal or possibly not take to the field at all this year. Having Von Miller on the field this year would be huge for the defending Super Bowl champions as he has become of the best players in the league over the last few years.
