North Carolina G John Ferranto to miss season with torn pectoral

The North Carolina Tar Heels are coming off a historic 11-win season that saw them land in the ACC Championship Game for the first time in history.

They are looking to do much of the same this year, but will do so without potential starting right guard John Ferranto.

It was reported on Friday that Ferranto had tore his pectoral muscle during a workout session on Monday and then had surgery on Wednesday. He will miss the entire season for the Tar Heels.

John Ferranto is a senior and is listed as the starting right guard for North Carolina. This could end up being a big blow for the team as he was expected to end up replacing All-American Landon Turner, who is now with the New Orleans Saints.

For his career, Ferranto has 17 career starts with the team and he moved from left tackle this spring.
