Rick Neuheisel thinks UCLA could leave PAC-12 for Big 12

There is no doubting that the Big 12 will be expanding out to at least 12 teams in the very near future, but the question is who those few teams will be. Former UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel seems to think the Bruins could be interested in making the surprise move.

Earlier this week, Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder also said that a few teams that left the Big 12 could be looking to make a return to the conference. While it seems more likely that the conference goes with an independent like BYU or a Group of Five team like Houston or Cincinnati, it is fun to think that they could land one of the best teams in another Power Five conference.

Neuheisel talked about the prospect of Big 12 expansion on his SiriusXM show on Wednesday. Here is what he said via Bruins Nation:

“I wouldn’t be surprised to see UCLA say, ‘You know what? This deal with this USC thing? We’re gonna go and be our own guy, rather than always tied to the school here in Los Angeles.’ It wouldn’t shock me at all. I don’t have any inside information. I’m just saying from outside looking in.”

UCLA moving to the Big 12 is very unlikely, but it would be interesting to seem them make a push away from USC in the near future. Let’s see if Rick Neuheisel’s claims actually turn out to be true.
