Chad Johnson leaves Browns camp, claims coaching is ‘tough’

A few weeks ago, former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson began a Twitter campaign to land a job in the NFL. It worked as the Cleveland Browns brought him on in an unofficial role as a receivers coach, but it doesn’t look like his tenure was very long.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported head coach Hue Jackson said Johnson had left the team’s camp on Sunday to handle some personal business. He also reported that Johnson was surprised how tough coaching was.

It was unclear if Johnson would be actually returning to the team, but it was only in an unofficial role anyway. He was originally there to work with a group of draft picks, especially after the Browns drafted five receivers in April.

Later on Monday, Johnson spoke with the website and said that he would be returning to the team, likely on Tuesday.

You really thought I was leaving? This is the funny thing,” Johnson. “Hue Jackson allowed me to come in as an intern. I never told Hue I was leaving, so he’s stuck with me until they force me to leave. I’ll be here through January.”

In the end, it all worked out for Chad Johnson and the Browns. But remember kids, playing football and coaching it are two completely different things.

Just ask Ochocinco.
