The Ohio State Buckeyes are one of the best college football programs of the last few years, but it looks like they hold their own in the history of college football as well. On Tuesday, the Associated Press released their list of the top 100 programs in the history of their poll and the Buckeyes came out of on top.
The AP released this poll and based it on how many times a team has been ranked in the AP Top 25, so the more times you appear on top, the more likely you are to be higher up on this list.
The Buckeyes came out as having appeared as No. 1 105 times in the 852 times they have made the poll in the 80 years it has been around.
This helped the Buckeyes land the number one spot on their list, just edging out the Alabama Crimson Tide, Oklahoma Sooners and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that the SEC was well-represented with eight teams making the top 25 on the list, but the Big Ten was just as impressive with seven teams making the cut. The Buckeyes have been pretty good since 1936, their first appearance in the poll, as they have won all eight of their national titles.
