Auburn dismisses RB Jovon Robinson

Earlier on Wednesday, it was reported that running back Jovon Robinson was absent from the Auburn Tigers’ first preseason practice of 2016. Now, it looks like there was a pretty good reason for his absence from the sidelines.

Head coach Gus Malzahn was set to speak with the media following Wednesday’s practice and Robinson’s absence was the hottest topic at the time.

The head coach dropped a bombshell by saying he had dismissed Robinson from the team.

This is a huge deal for the Tigers as they now have lost their three top running backs from the 2015 season. Peyton Barber, the starter from last year, left for the NFL. Meanwhile, Roc Thomas announced his transfer from the team earlier this season.

Robinson was slated to be the starting running back for the Tigers this year after he rushed for over 600 yards and three scores in 2015. This now leaves the door open for Kerryon Johnson to win the starting job after he went for over 200 yards and three touchdowns during the 2015 season.
