You can now earn college credit for playing ‘Pokemon Go’

There are very few apps, if any, that have taken the world by storm quite like “Pokemon Go.”

The app, developed and published by Niantic, encourages users to explore their neighborhoods and cities while searching for the rarest of Pokemon creatures to add to their collection.

If you are one of the millions of people who has fallen victim to the “Pokemon Go” trend, well, you could be in luck.

As it turns out, you can now earn college credit for playing “Pokemon Go.”

The University of Idaho has launched a course named Pop Culture Games. The hope of the course is to “build teamwork and leadership skills” while creating a fun environment for students to enjoy the game.

“It’s a great way to engage youth through adults, and a great way to engage families in active games together,” Philip Scruggs, chair of the Department of Movement Sciences, said in a statement, via NBC News. “Our interest is to turn folks on to an active lifestyle, and that can be achieved in endless ways.”

So if you have the desire to catch them all while enjoying your college studies and receiving course credit, you may just want to send an application out to the University of Idaho.
