Louisville football: 5 things to watch in 2016

The Louisville Cardinals surprisingly used defense as their strong point during the 2015 season, but in 2016, they should have both sides of the ball settled in and ready to go.

Bobby Petrino has high hopes for his team and it certainly looks like the Cardinals could make a run at a championship in the ACC.

Lamar Jackson returns for his sophomore season after taking over for Reggie Bonnafon early on and showing he can be a superstar. As for the weapons around him, Jamari Staples should be one to watch while a trio of running backs should be very good for the Cardinals.

Their defense doesn’t lose much as Devonte Fields, a former Big 12 Player of the Year, Josh Harvey-Clemons and a host of other players return. Todd ¬†Grantham finally seems to be settling in for this team.

The Cardinals want to possibly play spoiler for the top-tier programs in their conference this year and they can certainly do that. Let’s take a look at five things to watch for Louisville in the 2016 college football season.
