WR Carlos Strickland II announces transfer from Cal

The Cal Golden Bears already knew they were losing six wide receivers from the 2015 season to graduation and the NFL. Now, they can add transfer to the list as Carlos Strickland II announced his decision to leave on Saturday.

Strickland, a 2015 signee and former four-star recruit, took to Twitter on Saturday and announced he would be transferring out of Cal to move back to his home state of Texas after his grandfather fell ill.

In case anyone thought he wouldn’t have a number of options to transfer to, Carlos Strickland was being recruited by many schools across the country including LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and TCU. He didn’t see much playing time with the Golden Bears in his true freshman season.

Strickland will likely have to sit out the 2016 season due to NCAA rules, but he would have three years of eligibility left starting in the 2017 season.
