Jeff Fisher and the Los Angeles Rams are featured on the current season of HBO’s Hard Knocks and it’s safe to say the head coach has not changed since moving to the West Coast.
On Tuesday’s debut episode, we saw just that when he reminded his team of his no-nonsense attitude.
Fisher is starting this new change by getting rid of players who don’t follow the rules and it seems as though wide receiver Deon Long was first on his hit list. In the episode, he called Long into his office and let him know that he had been cut because he brought a woman back to his dorm room during training camp.
“We’re going to cut you,” Fisher told Long. “Sorry, but this is our world, man. We have rules, and we have to abide by them. I thought I made myself really clear.”
He then later told the rest of the team that Long was just an example of what was to come for those who don’t follow the rules.
“I’m not (expletive) going 7-9 or 8-8 or 9-7. We have too much talent here for that. We had some 7-9 (expletive) this morning, and we can’t have that. Deon is gone. That is 7-9 (expletive), and we don’t need it.”
Long went undrafted last year and was signed to the Rams’ practice squad ahead of the 2015 season. The Philadelphia Eagles signed Long just days after he was cut on Aug. 5.
