Going into the 2016 college football season, there seem to be more quarterback battles at top-tier schools than ever before. One battle that might not wrap up until the first week of the season is between Notre Dame quarterbacks Malik Zaire and DeShone Kizer.
Kizer came in for the Fighting Irish after Zaire suffered a broken ankle early that cost him the rest of the season. He did fairly well, throwing for 2,880 yards and 21 touchdowns, rushing for 525 yards and 10 touchdowns and leading the Irish to the Fiesta Bowl.
There are many that seem to believe Kizer will beat out Zaire for the starting job this year and one that is pretty certain is Kevin Carter. He joined ESPN’s College Football Daily and talked about how “Kizer is the guy” for Notre Dame.
Wouldn't read too much into this "Kizer is the guy" from Kevin Carter, but interesting with his Lyght connection pic.twitter.com/8oXx9sF21h

It will be interesting to see who ends up winning this starting job going into the season. The Fighting Irish open the season on Sept. 4 when they face off against the Texas Longhorns.
