Auburn DL Raashed Kennion leaves team to pursue politics

The Auburn Tigers have lost some depth along the defensive line entering the 2016 season for one of the strangest reasons. It was announced on Saturday that defensive tackle Raashed Kennion has decided to leave the team to pursue a career in politics.

It appears as though his focus is on America, not making Auburn great again.

Following the team’s scrimmage on Saturday, head coach Gus Malzahn commented on Kennion’s absence from the game. He didn’t have much to say other than that he had gone home to Jacksonville, Florida.

He’s headed back home,” Malzahn said. “We wish him nothing but the best with that.”

It was later reported that Kennion had decided to pursue a career in politics, according to Auburn Gold Mine on Twitter.

This is certainly a rare situation as not many college athletes leave their respective sport for this reason. It will be interesting to see what he does in this field.
