Some sad news in the world of college football mascots has come out after it was announced that Navy’s live goat mascot, Bill XXXV, passed away. The news came on Wednesday and it was reported that he had been suffering from idiopathic edema.
Bill’s most recent illness came earlier this week when he was taken to a hospital in Pennsylvania for treatment. He is survived by Bill 36 and previous mascots Bill 33 and 34.
“Due to pain and suffering caused by his condition and a low likelihood of improvement, doctors there determined the best and most humane course of action would be euthanization,” the goat’s caretaker said.
Campus Sports would like to send their condolences to the Midshipmen and those affected by Bill’s passing.
