Clemson’s $55M facility has bowling alley, laser tag, nap room

The Clemson Tigers are one of the better recruiting teams in the country and it looks like that trend will continue into the future. One big reason for that is because of their new football facility that will be ready to open soon.

Matt Connolly of The State got a behind-the-scenes look at the team’s new $55 million facility this week and he came out with some pretty impressive comments about the building. He claimed that the 140,000 square feet building has enough to keep the players entertained in their free time, including a bowling alley, laser tag and a nap room.

This complex will be one of the best in the nation and will allow us to continue our pursuit to be among the best programs in the country,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said. “We look forward to it being the home of Clemson football for a very long time.”

The facility is also equipped with other fun things like a 24-seat HD theater, putt putt course and, of course, a 20,000 square feet weight room.

The most interesting thing about the facility is a room that is specifically meant just for napping. That certainly seems to be the favorite feature of Thad Turnipseed, the team’s director of recruiting and external affairs.

“The number one problem is lack of sleep, and right now what guys do all over the country is bring a pillow and go find a staircase or locker or hallway, and they’ll lay down and sleep, especially during two-a-days and really all year long,” Turnipseed said. “The nap room cost very little and is a great benefit.”

This is certainly one of the more unique football facilities in all of college football and it looks like the Tigers are excited for it to finally open.
