San Diego State football: 5 things to watch in 2016

The San Diego State Aztecs won the Mountain West for the second time in four years in 2015 and they certainly have a chance of making a big step towards the New Year’s Six bowl games this year.

Running back Donnel Pumphrey came back for his senior year after flirting with the NFL and he will look to repeat as conference offensive player of the year behind a stacked offensive line, which includes all-conference guard Nico Siragusa. Christian Chapman is now the full-time quarterback after taking over for an injured Maxwell Smith to end the 2015 season.

On defense, Damontae Kazee made a surprising return after a record year for the Aztecs in 2015 and he looks to make a big impact for this team once again. They also have talented players, like linebacker Calvin Munson and safety Malik Smith, to back him up.

Can the Aztecs make a big move towards winning the Mountain West once again and possibly go undefeated? Let’s take a look at five things to watch for San Diego State in the 2016 college football season.
