Report: Mississippi State DL Nick James arrested

With less than one week until the 2016 college football schedule really kicks into full swing, teams are hoping to avoid distraction. Unfortunately for Dan Mullen and the Mississippi State football program, this weekend led to an arrest.

According to Joel Coleman of the Starkville Daily, senior defensive lineman Nick James was arrested on a charge of public intoxication early Sunday morning.

He was later released on bond.

Mississippi State has yet to comment on his arrest or any potential punishment.

A former four-star recruit, James recorded 26 tackles, three tackles for loss and one forced fumble a season ago while earning ten starts.

The Bulldogs kickoff their 2016 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 3 against South Alabama at home.
