The Texas Longhorns host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Sunday, Sept. 4 and it is going to be a fun season for the team. However, head coach Charlie Strong is not prepared to name a starting quarterback before pregame this weekend.
According to ESPN’s Jake Trotter, Strong won’t decide between senior Tyrone Swoopes and true freshman Shane Buechele until gametime on Sunday. He believes that both of them have something good to provide, while also needing to prove themselves this year.
Charlie Strong says he won’t be naming a QB starter until Sunday night when the team runs onto the field.

In 2015, Swoopes was rather mediocre for the Longhorns, barely completing 50 percent of his passes for 537 yards and four touchdowns, but did run for over 400 yards and 12 touchdowns. Buechele, on the other hand, is a talented true freshman who has a chance to be a big star for this team.
Either way, the quarterback will have a tough test as they take on the Fighting Irish in a difficult game.
