In the early 2000’s, former USC running backs Reggie Bush and Lendale White ruled the college football world. We have yet to see a combo as good as that one since, but it certainly seems like Ohio State running back Mike Weber is confident in him and teammate Curtis Samuel.
Weber and Samuel were a huge part of Ohio State’s 77-10 season opening romp over the Bowling Green Falcons on Saturday. The former led the Buckeyes with 136 yards on the ground, while the latter added 84 yards and a score on the ground and 177 yards and two scores on nine receptions.
The redshirt freshman spoke with Cleveland.com’s Bill Landis and compared he and Samuel to Bush and White.
“Lendale White and Reggie Bush,” Weber said. “We can get there. We can probably even be better. I think we can be a really good 1-2 punch.”
That is certainly a big comparison for Weber as the Trojan duo is considered one of the best to ever take the field in college football. If they do end up being as good as those two, you can expect the Buckeyes to be a huge competitor for the College Football Playoff this year.
