The Texas Longhorns choose freshman Shane Buechele as the team’s starting quarterback for Sunday night’s season-opener against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at home.
While battling a top ten opponent in your first career start could be intimidating, Buechele wasted no time proving he was up for the challenge.
In Buechele’s first drive as the Longhorns quarterback, he led the team on an 11-play, 75-yard scoring drive. The drive was capped off by Buechele’s first career touchdown pass, a beautiful 19-yard strike to Armanti Foreman’s outside shoulder that was right on the money.

It’s easy to see why Buechele has so much hype and high expectations in Austin.
We will have to see if the touchdown settled his nerves and will allow him to play at a high level throughout the night or whether the freshmen jitters will eventually catch up.
