West Virginia’s Yodny Cajuste out for season with ACL injury

The West Virginia Mountaineers were victorious in their season-opener over Missouri, but it came at a cost. Promising sophomore offensive lineman Yodny Cajuste suffered an ACL injury during the game and will now be forced to miss the remainder of the year.

Cajuste, who missed a majority of his freshman season with another knee injury, went down in the first quarter on Saturday.

Redshirt freshman Colton McKivitz replaced Cajuste in the lineup and played well. West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen acknowledged the lineman’s impressive effort in relief and said he will be the starter moving forward.

“Colton McKivitz went in there and did his job against a first-round draft pick,” Holgorsen said, via West Virginia Illustrated.

“That’s what needs to happen. When guys go down, guys need to go in and play at a high level.”

West Virginia returns to action next weekend against Youngstown State in Morgantown.
