The UTEP Miners are faced with the difficult task of going up against the No. 11 Texas Longhorns this weekend. To matters worse, they will be taking the field without their starting quarterback.
The team’s starting quarterback, Zack Greenlee, came away from the season-opening win over New Mexico State with multiple injuries, so backup Kavika Johnson will get the call.
UTEP will start its No. 2 QB Kavika Johnson, a soph who played wildcat QB last week, but he's mobile and might actually be its best QB.

Last week, Johnson hauled in two passes for 26 yards. This week, he gets the opportunity to show off his legs and arm.
As for Greenlee, the Miners anticipate he will miss at least two weeks. During the season-opener, Greenlee suffered a small tear in his MCL, a separated shoulder and a broken finger.
UTEP and Texas are set to kick off at 7 p.m. ET at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on the Longhorn Network.
