Greg Ward Jr. injury update: Houston QB to return vs. Cincinnati

There is some good news for the Houston Cougars. After a big win over Oklahoma in the season-opener, the team shut out Lamar in Week 2 to advance to 2-0. They did so without the services of star quarterback Greg Ward Jr., who missed the game with a shoulder injury.

Ward was held out for precautionary reasons after undergoing an MRI earlier in the week.

The MRI revealed no structural damage.

Now that he has rested a week, it is being reported that Ward is expected to return to the field on Thursday when the Cougars head to Nippert Stadium for a meeting with the Cincinnati Bearcats.

The news comes from  Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle.

Along with the return of Ward, the Cougars will also see running back Duke Catalon return to the lineup after missing last week’s game with an ankle sprain.

Houston and Cincinnati are set to open their American Athletic Conference schedules on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
