Colorado State starting true freshman Collin Hill at QB

To say that Mike Bobo’s second year as head coach at Colorado State has gotten off to a rocky start would be an understatement. They lost to in-state rival Colorado in an embarrassing 44-7 upset to open the season and just barely squeaked out a 23-14 victory over the hapless UTSA Roadrunners.

In those two games, they have gotten next to zero production from the quarterback position as three different players have racked up just 171 yards and a touchdown against two interceptions with a 38.5 completion percentage. This has led to them starting their third different quarterback in three games as true freshman Collin Hill will get the nod against FCS opponent Northern Colorado.

We’re going to go with Collin Hill for this game,” Bobo told The Coloradoan. “… I feel like he’s confident. I feel like the guys are responding well to him, and I’m looking forward to seeing him play on Saturday.”

Hill gets the start over 2015 starter Nick Stevens and Georgia transfer Faton Bauta, who started Week 1 and Week 2 respectively. He was a three-star member of the Rams’ 2016 recruiting class after he was the No. 15 player in the state of South Carolina.

The Rams and Bears face off at 4 p.m. EST on Saturday.
