Syracuse football: Cordy, Dowels out for rest of year with injuries

The Syracuse football team suffered a 62-28 loss to Louisville last weekend and it is proving to be even more costly for the long run. On Friday, the Orange announced safety Antwan Cordy and defensive back Juwan Dowels will miss the remainder of the season due to injuries suffered in the Week 2 loss.

Cordy is set to undergo surgery for a forearm injury suffered in the second half against the Cardinals, while Dowels is expected to undergo surgery on his knee in the next few weeks.

The injuries deliver a crushing blow to the Syracuse depth and experience.

Last season, both players appeared in all twelve games for the Orange, with the junior Cordy serving as a starter in each contest. He was second on the team in tackles with 68.

Syracuse returns to action on Saturday as they look to advance to 2-1 with a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on the ACC Network.
