True freshman McKenzie Milton starting for UCF

The Central Florida Knights have not gotten very good quarterback play so far this year and it looks like they will be going with a new man under center for their big game against Maryland today. It has been reported that true freshman McKenzie Milton will get the start.

Hawaii Prep World reported that Milton would be getting the start for the Knights. His father, Mark, texted the newspaper in their home state and let them know his son had been informed of their decision this week.

“UCF coches told McKenzie that he is starting tomorrow night versus Maryland,” Milton said in the text on Friday. “They are not going to redshirt him.”

This comes after they have had some pretty terrible quarterback play from seniors Justin Holman and Nick Patti in two games. Holman is 17-39 with 212 yards and two touchdowns while Patti is 8-18 with 85 yards and just a 44.4 completion percentage.

Milton was a three-star member of the Knights’ 2016 recruiting class out of Miliani High School in Hawaii. He leads the Knights into their game against the Terrapins at 7 p.m. EST on CBS Sports Network.
