Earlier this year, pop music star Lady Gaga did a wonderful job of singing the national anthem ahead of Super Bowl 50. After reports of her talking to the NFL about the halftime show at Super Bowl LI, she will be getting her chance at the biggest stage in sports.
It was reported by multiple outlets that Lady Gaga has been given the headlining spot for the 2017 halftime show from NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The game is set for February 5, 2017.
“This is one of the highest honors of my career,” she explained in an earlier interview with NFL Network. “I get a chance to sing for all the athletes — who have been working so hard their whole lives for this moment — the coaches, as well as the fans in the stands who are waiting for this moment. I think it marks what being an American is all about.”
Gaga will release her fifth studio album on Friday, Oct. 21, so expect to hear her perform a few of the songs off that album next February.
