Monday Night Raw recap: Clash of Champions set

On a night that was full of excitement heading into Sunday’s Clash of Champions pay-per-view. It will be very fun to see what happens this weekend in Indianapolis.

Kevin Owens started the show as he came down to the ring and talked about his match with Seth Rollins this Sunday, but General Manager Mick Foley and Commissioner Stephanie McMahon made a rematch between the Universal Champion and Roman Reigns, who lost his shot at the title thanks to United States Champion Rusev, but the main event would be inside a steel cage.

Rollins and Rusev were forced to face off against each other after their interference in the main event the week before. It was a back and forth match to kick off Raw, but it ended with the two both being counted out and the match ending in a draw while Rollins got the final laugh.

After a controversial ending to a Triple Threat match featuring Dana Brooke, Sasha Banks and Bayley, the latter two women were put into the Raw Women’s Championship at Clash of Champions. Champion Charlotte was not happy at all.

Banks and Bayley were put into a match with Charlotte and Brooke, but it was the champion and her protege that ended up getting the last laugh.

Cesaro has had a Golden State Warriors-like comeback against Sheamus over the last few months. It is now an even series as the clincher will take place on Sunday.

TJ Perkins won the Cruiserweight Championship at the first ever Cruiserweight Classic and everyone knew he was coming to Raw soon. However, the four men that made a debut in the division were Rich Swann, Cedric Alexander, The Brian Kendrick and Classic runner-up Gran Metalik.

The four met up in a No. 1 Contender’s Match for the title at Clash Of Champions. Kendrick hasn’t worked in WWE since 2009, but he ended up pulling out the win and getting the title shot.

The main event steel cage match was as exciting as you would imagine it to be. It was a back and forth bout between Owens and Reigns, but the Big Dog proved it was his yard as he won the race and knocked off the Universal Champion.

However, Rusev attacked Reigns and he and Owens locked Reigns inside the cage. They beat on him until Rollins made the save and took them out with a top of the cage splash.

It is sure to be a wild night Sunday night at Clash of Champions.
