Louisville QB Lamar Jackson overwhelming Heisman frontrunner

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson has had an amazing year for the Cardinals so far. Last week, he led the team to a 63-20 blowout over the Florida State Seminoles and helped them to the No. 3 ranking in the latest AP top 25.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Jackson is now the overwhelming favorite to win the 2016 Heisman Trophy. Bovada released the most recent odds on Tuesday and Jackson is in front of players like 2015 finalists Christian McCaffrey and Deshaun Watson and Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett.

So far this year, Jackson has thrown for 913 yards and eight touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing for 464 yards and 10 touchdowns. He nearly has half as many touchdowns in three games as he had in all of 2015.

Here are the current odds for this year’s award:

  • Lamar Jackson: 1/2
  • Christian McCaffrey: 11/2
  • J.T. Barrett: 6/1
  • Deshaun Watson: 8/1
  • Leonard Fournette: 12/1
  • Donnell Pumphrey: 25/1
  • Jake Browning: 40/1

The Louisville Cardinals face off against Marshall on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. EST.
