Country music duo, and University of Kentucky football fans, Austin’s Rose, has released a song titled “I Still Believe in Stoops”, a reference to UK coach Mark Stoops and his 1-2 start.
The University of Kentucky is typically a basketball-centric school, having won eight National Championships, including one under current coach John Calipari, but it’s good to see that same passion beginning to bubble for the football program.
Despite being mostly irrelevant in college football since being coached by Bear Bryant, the Wildcats appeared to have been on the upswing in recent history.
Stoops inhereted a team that had gone 2-10 the previous season, and though they are yet to post a winning season under his direction, they have put together a pair of 5-7 seasons. Stoops is 12-24 all time with the Wildcats; the process is a slow one.
Coaches have been feeling the love from fans in recent days, as Auburn coach Gus Malzahn recently received a letter from a fan in which they offered their support.
The song is part heartfelt support, part tongue-in-cheek, all country twang. Check it out and decided if you, too, still believe in Stoops.
