Roy Williams’ UNC basketball program has taken another positive step towards the future. On Monday, four-star center Brandon Huffman announced he has committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels, according to Scout.com.
The 6-9, 230-pounder from Raleigh Word of God Christian Academy in North Carolina chose to commit to the Tar Heels over a number of high-profile offers like UConn, Indiana, Seton Hill, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU and many others. Ultimately, he chose to remain in his home state.
Inside Carolina’s Rob Harrington had this to say about the four-star recruit:
“Over the past 10 months, Huffman has lifted himself from obscurity into national prominence. He’s a genuine center who possesses the size and frame to become one of the ACC’s most physically imposing interior anchors. Albeit not a skilled offensive player at this stage, I admire his strength, team-oriented focus and highly aggressive style. I don’t expect big contributions his freshman season but do believe he’ll develop into a solid player.”
Huffman becomes the third member of UNC’s 2017 recruiting class, joining guards Jalek Felton and Andrew Platek.
With the addition of the talented big man, North Carolina now holds the top 2017 recruiting class in the ACC and the No. 13 class nationally, according to 247 Sports Rankings.
