Michigan State football players wear No. 6 shirts to honor Mylan Hicks

Mylan Hicks, a former safety at Michigan State University, was killed last week while standing in front of a nightclub. This weekend, the Spartans will be wearing black No. 6 t-shirts to honor their fallen brother.

Hicks was 23 years old and continuing his football career in the Canadian Football League, playing for the Calgary Stampeders. Thus far, there has been no discovered motive for the act of violence.

In his time at Michigan State, he was the recipient of the Spartans “Biggie Munn Award,” which is awarded to the most inspirational player on the Spartan defense.

Recently, Michigan State added a Mylan Hicks memorial scholarship at the request of his family and friends. Coach Mark Dantonia was quoted as saying, “Mylan was the kind of guy who always had a gleam in his eye and he always brought something good out in you as a person.”
