The American Athletic Conference Game of the Week between Navy football and the No. 6 Houston Cougars proved to live up to its expectations.
After a wild four quarters of action which went down to the final whistle, it was the Midshipmen who came out on top with a 46-40 win to end Houston’s perfect start to the season.
Navy proved from the opening quarter that they were ready for a challenge and Houston was on upset alert after Bennett Moehring hit a 38-yard field goal at the half to even the score at 20-20.
In the third quarter is when things really changed.
Just five minutes into the quarter, the Midshipmen had 14 unanswered points as Darryl Bonner took a 17-yard pass from Will Worth into the endzone and Josiah Powell returned an interception 34 yards to the endzone.
Houston had a chance with seconds remaining on the clock, but they were unable to pull out any magic.

Now, the Cougars will have to wonder what the loss does to their College Football Playoff hopes, while the Midshipmen could suddenly find themselves ranked in the top 20.
Houston returns to action next weekend by hosting Tulsa, while Navy makes the trip to take on ECU.
