If the Notre Dame Fighting Irish defense improves over the next few weeks, every Fighting Irish fan better be thanking Ric Flair.
Notre Dame fired defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder after a 1-3 start, with 134 points surrendered in those four games. New defensive coordinator Greg Hudson is looking to change the culture on that side of the ball and he’s doing everything he can to energize and excite his unit since taking over.
That includes playing Ric Flair videos to rally the troops.
Nothing will get you fired up then a good ol’ “WOO!”
The Fighting Irish are 1-0 since Hudson took over the defense, but to be fair, it was against Syracuse and the team still gave up 33 points.
Notre Dame returns to the field today at noon on ABC against the North Carolina State Wolfpack. We’ll have to see whether the decision to call on Ric Flair for some inspiration pays off.
