Louisiana Tech QB Ryan Higgins earns national player of the week honor

Louisiana Tech quarterback Ryan Higgins has picked up a national honor for his standout performance in Week 7 of the 2016 college football season against UMass, after earning an honorable mention for the award the week prior.

On Tuesday, it was announced that Higgins has been named The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week.

Higgins torched the Minutemen defense to the tune of 484 passing yards and five touchdowns (a career-high) in the 56-28 win. It is now only the second time in Louisiana Tech history that a quarterback has thrown for 450+ yards and five scores in back-to-back games. The only other player to achieve that accomplishment is current Bulldogs quaterbacks coach Tim Rattay.

The senior signal-caller has 2,353 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and only three interceptions this season.
