When the Wake Forest basketball team steps onto the court for the 2016-17 season, it will be honoring a legendary Demon Deacons alum. Paul Lukas of Uni Watch announced on Monday that Wake Forest will be honoring the late golfing icon with a patch on this year’s jersey.
It is a gold “AP” patch directly above the Nike logo and opposite the American flag.

As a member of the Wake Forest golf team, Palmer captured the 1949 and 1950 Southern Conference and NCAA individual titles, as well as three Southern Conference team championships.
Following his time at Wake Forest, Palmer went on to dominate as a pro. The Latrobe, Pennsylvania native captured seven Major championships and claimed 62 titles on the PGA Tour. He was the PGA Tour Player of the Year in 1960 and 1962.
Arnold Palmer will forever be remembered as one of the greatest sports icons in history and its great to see his alma mater honoring his memory.
