Week 8 of the college football season provided one of the biggest upsets of the year when the unranked Penn State Nittany Lions upset the previously No. 2-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes in front of a rowdy “White Out” crowd at Beaver Stadium.
Following the monumental upset, head coach James Franklin has been honored as the Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week.
It marks the first time that Franklin has ever claimed the weekly award and it is the first time the Nittany Lions have defeated a Jim Harbaugh, Mark Dantonio and Urban Meyer led team under Franklin’s leadership.
It was also the first time Franklin’s Penn State squad has defeated a ranked team.

Penn State returns to action this weekend against Purdue on the road.
Kickoff is set for noon ET on ABC.
