Syracuse reprimands football operations director after altercation

Syracuse has reprimanded Brad Wittke, their football operations director, after discussing the matter with the higher-ups at the ACC.

Syracuse Orange athletic director John Wildhack decided that a reprimand was all that was necessary in connection to the incident. Wittke was deemed to have engaged in unsportsmanlike conduct. Following a late tackle penalty in their match against Boston College, a scuffle broke out between the players.

When the scuffle reached Wittke, he can be seem grabbing and throwing the Boston College player to the ground. He claims the was trying to diffuse the situation.

Wittke apparently lives by Ceasar Milan: Dog Whipserer rules and was trying to show dominance over the rest of the pack.

Many feel that the action taken against Wittke is too light given that he made contact with a player. With some calling for a suspension, and others calling for his job, Wittke should consider himself fortunate to have been able to get away with nothing more than an apology.

“While trying to prevent the situation from becoming worse I made contact with William, causing him to fall to the ground. I take responsibility for that and regret that it happened,” he said.

Syracuse won, 28-20.
