Chad Kelly thinks NFL teams should draft him because of his ‘swag’

When it comes to physical talent, Chad Kelly has everything NFL teams could want in a franchise quarterback. When it comes to maturity and trust off the field, the Ole Miss quarterback leaves a lot to be desired.

NFL general managers were reminded of that on Wednesday morning.

Emily Kaplan of Sports Illustrated shared a quote from her interview with Kelly which really proved how far the Rebels signal-caller has to go before he can gain the trust of a GM in the league.

“If I’m a GM, why should I draft Chad Kelly?”, the senior quarterback was asked.

His response: “swagger.”

No one is going to deny Kelly’s talents on the field, but there will also be no one to deny he is a head case and a concern off the field. Teams will have to determine whether he can find a way to focus his energy on football and maturing as a player.

If he can do that, Kelly could very well be drafted in the first two rounds.

If Kelly continues to give head scratching quotes like this one throughout the draft process, he could be in for a draft day slide. Only time will tell, but Kelly is certainly the most polarizing prospect in this year’s class.
