Everyone knew it was coming and the ruling is finally here.
On Saturday night, Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher and Pitt’s Pat Narduzzi both took some time to criticize officials following their games. As a result, the ACC has issued public reprimands for violating the ACC Sportsmanship Policy.
The ACC Sportsmanship Policy reads: “Public criticism of officials or public comments evaluating the officiating of particular contests is not in the best interest of intercollegiate athletics. Individuals associated with the athletics program are prohibited, therefore, from commenting while acting in an official capacity on officiating other than directly to the Conference office.”
Because of the head coaches missteps, institutional fines have been issued to Florida State ($20,000) and Pitt ($5,000).
The $25,000 collected by the ACC office will go towards the Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Scholarship account.
