Illinois honors the loss of Michigan State punter Mike Sadler

In advance of a game against Michigan State this week, Illinois has donated an autographed jersey in memory of former punter Mike Sadler, who was killed in auto collision earlier this year. Illinois paid a similar tribute to Sam Foltz earlier in the season. Foltz was the punter for Nebraska, who also passed away prior to the beginning of the season in the tragic car accident.

It has become a regular form respect for both of those teams as the make their way through their schedule.

This was Illinois against Nebraska earlier this year.

While Sadler was on the current roster at the time of his passing, Michigan State also suffered the loss of one of it’s recent alumni. Earlier this year, Mylan Hicks, a defensive back who graduated from Michigan State in 2013, was killed in front of a nightclub in Canada. He was playing for the Stampeeders in the Canadian Football league and his murder was an act of random violence.

Our deepest condolences continue to go out to those who are struggling through this difficult time.
