A man who loves football and with some time to burn will go and watch his alma mater run the score up against a vastly inferior team. Former LSU coach Les Miles intends to attend the Michigan Wolverines’ game against the Indiana Hoosiers later this month.
Miles was fired from his post as head coach of the LSU Tigers earlier this season after starting the season too slow for the university’s taste: 1-2. Both losses came against teams currently ranked in the top ten, Wisconsin and Auburn.
The visit is not believed to be related to his search for a job coaching when next year rolls around, though being around the current movers and shakers in the business (like Jim Harbaugh), they’ll probably talk at least a little business.
Les Miles was connected to the head coaching vacancy at Michigan several times before the team eventually secured Harbaugh away from the San Francisco 49ers.
Miles has strong ties to the school, both as a student and as a coach. Miles played along the offensive line in the 1970’s and was a grad student and coaches assistant in the 80’s; eventually becoming the offensive line coach.
Miles has been tied to several coaching vacancies since being let go at LSU and he is rumored to already be putting together a coaching staff that he can install from day 1.
Purdue is a program that comes up regularly in Les Miles talks, though is considered a long shot to secure Mile’s services.
