Kentucky basketball lands 4-star G Shai Alexander

Kentucky basketball continues to get some great news on the recruiting trail.

On Monday morning, four-star guard Shai Alexander announced he would be committing to the Wildcats program. The 6-foot-4 combo guard chose Kentucky over the likes of Syracuse, Texas and UNLV.

Alexander was previously committed to Florida.

“I’d like to first thank God for opening so many doors for me. I’m thankful for the support received from my family, friends, teammates and coaches that have shaped me to be the person I am today,” Alexander wrote in a statement on Twitter. “Much thanks to the coaching staff and fans at Florida for being patient with me through this process and wishing you nothing but success. I would like to also thank the other coaches and programs that recruited me. Special thanks to my Uplay family and my family at Hamilton Heights.

“I am pleased to announce that I will pursue my collegiate education and athletics at the University of Kentucky next year.”

Alexander, the No. 2 combo guard in his class, joins five-star big men Nick Richards and P.J. Washington, who committed to Kentucky last week. It’s yet another blue-chip prospect for John Calipari’s squad.
