Auburn defensive end Byron Cowart will miss the remainder of the college football season.
According to a report from Derek Tyson of ESPN.com, Cowart, the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2015, underwent surgery earlier this week to have his appendix removed.

While Cowart has seen limited action this season, he has appeared in all ten games.
Cowart has recorded six tackles in 2016, including one for a loss.
The Tigers return to action this weekend against Alabama A&M. Next weekend, Auburn faces off against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Iron Bowl.
