Washington’s Darren Gardenhire quits team after refusing drug test

As the 2016 college football winds down, the Washington Huskies will have to finish the season without defensive back Darren Gardenhire.

Ahead of this weekend’s clash with Washington State in the Apple Cup, the junior defensive back has reportedly quit the team after refusing to take a drug test, according to Chantel Jennings of ESPN.

This season, Gardenhire, who was primarily a special teams contributor, recorded 13 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.

The No. 6 Huskies will move on, with their focus on the No. 23 Cougars this Friday. Kickoff between Washington and Washington State at Clarence D. Martin Stadium in Pullman is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
