It’s rivalry week in Ohio which can only mean one thing: expensive footwear for newborns.
This week at the Wexner Medical Center in Ohio, apparel giant Nike decided to donate a pair of the new LeBron James sneakers to all the infants in the maternity ward.
The generous gift comes in advance of the Ohio State Buckeyes rivalry game against the Michigan Wolverines.

The shoes currently retail for $55 in infant and child sizes.
The shoes do not come with the receipt and you can’t exchange them at the hospital for cash value.
Typically the hospital gives away gifts that are slightly less flashy than the Soldier 10’s. On rivalry week last season, the Wexner Medical center distributed cozy blankets to any baby born during rivalry week, they read: “Beat Michigan”.

Their opponent, the third-ranked Michigan Wolverines, have their apparel provided by the Jordan Brand, which is produced by Nike. That makes this kind of resounding endorsement a bit of a head-scratcher.
With both teams jockeying for position in the College Football Playoff, it appears Nike has made a public announcement of who they will be rooting for.
