Penn State’s Saquon Barkley expects to play in Big Ten Championship

Penn State star Saquon Barkley is nursing a right ankle injury, which is cause for concern regarding the running back’s status ahead of this weekend’s Big Ten Championship clash with Wisconsin.

However, there is some reason for optimism among the Nittany Lion faithful, with Barkley telling reporters he fully expects to suit up in Indianapolis.

The news confirms head coach James Franklin’s comments earlier this week, where he indicated the sophomore should be ready to go on Saturday afternoon.

Barkley, who is second in the Big Ten in rushing, has 1,219 yards and 15 touchdowns this season. Barkley’s 15 touchdowns leads the conference.

Penn State and Wisconsin are set to kickoff on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 3:30 p.m. ET at Lucas Oil Stadium. Live coverage of the Big Ten Championship will air on FOX and online with the FOX Sports Go app.
