Oregon football: Greg Schiano a head coaching candidate?

Oregon football coach Mark Helfrich was fired from his position on Tuesday, but it looks like the Ducks already have their eyes on a potential replacement.

Many believe Oregon will be pursuing Western Michigan’s P.J. Fleck, but there is also another big name linked to the job.

According to Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports, Ohio State defensive coordinator and former Rutgers and NFL head coach Greg Schiano is a name to watch as the coaching search heats up.

Schiano is in his first year as Ohio State defensive coordinator, while holding a 73–68 overall record as an NCAA head coach.

Other names linked to the Oregon job are Florida’s Jim McElwain, UCF head coach and former Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost, Bryan Harisn of Boise State and West Virginia’s Dana Holgorsen.
