Notre Dame has apparently reversed its course on quarterback Malik Zaire.
Earlier this week, Zaire announced his intentions to transfer from the Fighting Irish. Initial reports then indicated the signal-caller would be blocked from transferring to any of Notre Dame’s 2017 opponents, excluding North Carolina.
That meant Zaire was blocked from transferring to Temple, Georgia, Boston College, Michigan State, Miami (OH), USC, NC State, Wake Forest, Miami (FL), Navy and Stanford.
However, on Thursday morning, the Fighting Irish granted Zaire his unconditional release.
ESPN.com’s Jared Shanker‘s shared the news.
According to reports, Florida, Pittsburgh, Michigan State and Wisconsin are the “primary contenders” to land Zaire.
Throughout his collegiate career, Zaire has been inconsistent, but has still shown some impressive potential at times. It will be interesting to see where he ultimately lands and what kind of impact he will be able to make as he finishes out his college career.
