It’s that time of year when temperatures are beginning to cool and there will be some viruses going around. Unfortunately for the Kentucky basketball program, that meant a cold bug hit the locker room last week.
As a result, the Wildcats facilities and dorm rooms were sanitized in an attempt to contain the issue.
Kentucky head coach John Calipari addressed the situation on Friday.
“Each of them have (hand sanitizer) in the room,” Calipari said, according to Myron Medcalf of ESPN.
“We got sick this week. And a couple of the guys got sick. So we sanitized everything. … (Concourse of the practice facility), locker room, bathroom, shower, videos, lockers, their common areas over there, bathrooms over in the (Wildcat Coal Lodge).”
The good news for Kentucky is that no players missed practice as a result of the cold bug, but some staff members were impacted during the trip to the Bahamas.
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday against the undefeated UCLA Bruins.
Tip-off at Rupp Arena is set for 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
