Eastern Kentucky basketball player charged with rape

Over the weekend, an Eastern Kentucky basketball player was arrested for rape.

23-year-old Jaylen Babb-Harrison, a senior guard for the Colonels, was booked in Kentucky’s Madison County Detention Center after being arrested on Sunday for first-degree rape. Babb-Harrison has since been suspended from the team while the university cooperates with authorities.

“Eastern Kentucky University is committed to the safety of all students and will enforce all laws, regulations and student conduct policies that deal with sexual assault,”Eastern Kentucky spokeswoman Kristi Middleton said in a statement, via Kentucky.com.

“EKU provides a variety of support services for survivors of sexual violence and encourages reporting of crimes or misconduct to EKU or Richmond Police and the EKU Title IX office.”

Babb-Harrison allegedly had sex with a woman against her will at his home. He admitted to authorities that he had crossed the line and should have stopped having sex with the woman.

Babb-Harrison is set to appear in court on Wednesday.
